Nate Robinson planning a trip to Greece

According to redplanet.gr Olympiacos' target for the point guard position, Nate Robinson, should arrive to Greece soon in order to have a look around and see what to expect if he decides to join The Reds. Josh Childress did the same last year and ended up signing a contract with Olympiacos.

Though Robinson is not the only option that the Aggelopoulos brothers have in mind. Negotiations between Olympiacos and Montepaschi Siena about the possibility of signing Terrell McIntyre are still taking place. The main obstacle for Olympiacos is the price tag set by the Italian club. Although latest reports suggest that Montepaschi are willing to lower their asking price, the owners of the Greek giants continue holding talks with Nate Robinson.

Airborne Laser Engages Missile

Check out this amazing video clip of Boeing's YAL-1 Airborne Laser engaging a missile MARTI missile surrogate.

Boeing YAL-1 Airborne Laser

For those that don't know, the YAL-1 Airborne laser is a "high-energy chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL) carried aboard a modified Boeing 747-400F freighter is capable of autonomous operation at altitudes above the clouds. The Airborne Laser (ABL) will locate and track missiles in the boost phase of their flight, then accurately point and fire the high-energy laser, destroying enemy missiles near their launch areas."

This test, conducted on 10th January, 2009 represents the first air-to-air engagement of the YAL-1 laser.

If you're wondering why the missile isn't blown to pieces, that's because the Airborne laser does not burn or disintegrate the projectile, but rather heats the missile skin weakening it and causing it fail in flight.

Landing a direct hit on a target moving at the speed of missile has been the major draw back in the development of the YAL-1. but thanks to the infrared sensors that cater to the initial detection; and the low power tracking lasers that calculate missile course, speed, aimpoint, and air turbulence, Boeing have managed to overcome this problem with effective results.

It would seem that similar technology is being used in Boeing's other military-grade laser weapon, the Humvee-mounted Laser Avenger. At around the same time last year, the Laser Avenger was reported to have struck down a spy drone in mid-flight.

Unfortunately, no vids on that particular test, but if the Airborne laser is anything to judge it by, the new laser weaponry technology is about revolutionize warfare.

Carbon-offset pioneer Responsibletravel.com changes CO2 strategy …

As one of the first brands to offer travellers the chance to offset their flights, the company's shift calls into question the usefulness of the practice and the concept of carbon-neutrality as a way to engage consumers who are concerned about the environment.

Yet brands that continue to use offsetting, such as the Co-operative and Sky, are adamant that they provide a good way to reduce the impact of their activities as part of a wider carbon-reduction strategy.

Responsibletravel.com's managing director, Justin Francis, thinks differently. He says offsets 'distract tourists from the need to reduce their emissions', both from a travel perspective as well as part of their everyday lifestyle habits.

The travel agent has replaced its offsetting service with new advice about carbon reduction. It has also published a 'carbon caution', which sets out ways that consumers can reduce emissions, such as flying less.

'Finding ways to reduce our carbon emissions is the only way we are going to meet the target cuts that science has set us,' says Francis.

He claims that demand for its offsets had been only 'modest'. 'My suspicion is that many consumers are increasingly sceptical about the idea of offsets,' he adds.

This view is echoed by industry experts. Diana Verde Nieto, chief executive of sustainability agency Clown-fish, says, somewhat bluntly: 'Offsetting is like the morning-after pill. It doesn't work.' she adds that by offsetting, 'you are announcing that you cannot lower your emissions independently any further. This can be interpreted as a means of paying to keep polluting'.

Tim Richman Gadoffre, chief executive of Marival, a consultancy specialising in luxury and sustainability, flags up the problem at the heart

of offsetting CO2 emissions generated by travel. 'Putting a chunk of metal like a Boeing 747 in the air is never going to be environmentally friendly,' he says.

He does warn, however, that Responsibletravel.com's shift could be pounced upon by sceptics as proof that all efforts to reduce carbon emissions are a waste of time.

Chris Shearlock, sustainable development manager at the Co-operative, is 'befuddled' by Responsibletravel.com's stance. While he agrees that offsetting is not the only answer, he sees it as a step in the right direction. 'It's mad to carry on selling flights but not sell offsets,' he adds.

The Co-operative offsets across its mortgages, travel and car insurance brands. Since 2000, it has offset 400,000 tonnes of CO2 via an energy-saving project in Cambodia, by replacing diesel generators with treadle pumps, and through combating deforestation in Uganda.

Responsibletravel.com led the way in introducing carbon-offsetting, but bigger brands that have embraced the idea of carbon-neutrality may not be so willing to mirror its latest stance any time soon.

originality consists in trying to be like everybody else — and …

i once heard that originality is conclusively "undetected plagiarism." Yeah, in some cases that might be true but for some people that idea is far fetched. // them basik boys.

Its weird writing this because it truly hits home. Ive had the chance to watch these boys grow into men and take their business with them. I sat back as a spectator as they took an idea and turned it into a movement.

If you dont know already (which im sure you do) I am talking about Basik Art Clothing. a company established in October of 2002 by 2 weird ass young men by the names of Picasso and Shoota Mac-Mane. lol j.k they're alright.

Like erykah I could go on and on but ima try & keep it short. I have a lot of followers who dont live in Texas, so my purposes are strictly informative. (def not a bsk bop)

Basik Art Clothing is a clothing line whose continuity and success is based on originality. "When art duplicates into fashion--Basik Art Originals."

What can i say man...they put on for the city of H-town. After providing streetwear for countless artists, celebs, and not to mention 90% of Houston's urban population....Basik Art has turned a trend into an accepted style.
by Snake-o.

Yeah, with anything innovative hatred follows but the $$ speaks for itself (or so it should). With basik art no two shirts are alike. After putting on a whole gang of artists, the possibilities are endless. I dont know them all but one thing I can say about the ones I do know: its not a game.

If I can find my first BSK shirt ill post the pic up...just to show how much they have evolved. It had a screen print of Destiny's Child wearing military style clothing, next to a quote from one of their songs. oh yeah lets not forget about the target looking circles. Lol that was clearly 2004.

But yeah, to sum it up Basik Art is a prime example of HOW we should attempt to reach our dreams. Stay true to yourself and own up to the principles behind the idea of originality. Success is deemed to follow.
